Six Keys to Getting A Grip on Your Business

08/25/2022 • 11:00AM - 11:45AM MST • Workshop Room 3

Are you ready to start getting more of what you want from your business? Even the most successful entrepreneurs occasionally find running a business more challenging than they expected. Most business owners are regularly frustrated by one or more common issues: lack of control over time, markets or the company; people who don’t listen, understand or follow through; profit—there’s not enough of it; and growth—inability to get to the next level.

She is also a current member of The Women Presidents Organization. Dawn grew her small business from a tiny start up out of her home to a multi-office, 14,000 square foot warehouse and showroom with 30+ employees and multi-million-dollar revenues. She credits her lack of creativity but very strong skills in business planning and logistics, as well as being a good leader who engages and empowers her team for the success she has. In the last 30 years there were all the trials, challenges, and lessons entrepreneurs face. Nothing quite prepares you for the day you have a growing family, three successful small businesses, and the unexpected loss of your husband, business partner, and father of your three children. When Dawn’s husband died in a tragic accident in 2013 while on vacation with their 18 and 21-year-old sons and three-month-old daughter, she had some serious decisions to make. Dawn was not sure she could run the businesses by herself while getting through grief and raising a newborn with two older sons who just lost their dad. This trauma took Dawn on a journey to find her passion, to realize that life was too short to work it away, and to understand that when people are allowed to bring their head, hearts, and hands to work, they will rise to the challenge. She bet on herself. She decided that she was going to run these businesses a little differently. Dawn had a major mindset shift and started putting people before profit. In 2017 when her oldest son Josh told Dawn he wanted to buy the business they decided to implement the Entrepreneurial Operating System© into the business. What happened? From 2017 to 2019, the business grew its gross revenue by 30%, spent 65% more on employee pay & benefits and the net profit grew by 300%. Dawn knew the business was set-up for success with her son at the helm. Dawn also discovered that she wanted to do this exact thing for other business owners and leaders. She knew all to well that life can be cut short, she is passionate about helping people not work theirs away but growing a business that gives them the life they desire. Through this lifetime Dawn has learned strategic and tactical tools to grow a small business successfully, as well as gaining clarity on who she is and how to effectively leverage and empower a team. She knows the process for getting leaders off the treadmill. Dawn is passionate about giving small business owners the permission to live a life that includes their family, their passions, the time freedom, and the money that they want and need.Dawn has found her true gifts, strengths and purpose in Speaking, Coaching, Facilitation, and training.
